Theorys of Breakcore vol. 4: Industrial-Project.com

Breakcore. Незамеченным ему пройти не удалось. На сегодня он является одним из самых экстремальных стилей электронной музыки, который объединил в себе на основе Breakbeat и IDM, такие элементы музыкальных стилей как (Ragga-)Jungle, Hardcore Techno, Drum & Bass, а также некоторое влияние New-Rave.

Задатки стиля появились примерно в середине 90-х годов. Каким образом на свет появился Breakcore – достоверно не известно, но имеется ряд сведений, когда в Берлине и Кёльне (Германия), одна диджейская команда под названием “Bass Terror Crew“, начала ставить на своих вечеринках более тяжелые Breakbeat-пластинки, достигалось всё это игрой винила на 45 RPM, вместо изначально намеченного 33 RPM (ударов в минуту). Но при этом само название Breakcore, зародилось в другом месте. В то же время DJ Tanith, специализирующийся на Hardcore Techno вечеринках, начал ряд новых Party, где впервые в качестве стиля указывался “Breakcore“.

Примерно тогда же, в начале и середине 90-х годов, многие Hardcore Techno-музыканты уставшие от мало изменяемого в звучании и практически не эволюционирующего Hardcore Techno, и в частности Gabber, начали перенимать идеи из Jungle-музыки конца 80-х и начала 90-х (чем примерно объясняется появление Ragga-Jungle). Что стало еще одним шагом вперед в развитии нового стиля. В последствии в эту музыку стали чаще и больше добавлять ломаные ритмы, так называемые Break Beats, и особенно любимый Ragga-Jungle-музыкантами – Amen Drum. Примерную же технологию построения трека было любезно заимствованно из уже окрепшего тогда IDM, с чем связанно его большое сходство. Фоновое же звучание бочки и басса традиционно происходило из концепта Hardcore Techno, атмосфера зачастую была заимствована из индустриальной музыки, такой как различный Noise, Industrial Ambient и всевозможные урбанистические пейзажи.

В дальнейшем стиль начал выходить в отдельностоящую категорию, вырабатывать свою концепцию и “традиционность” звучания. Со временем от него ушла некоторая “рейвовость” звука, и на его замену пришла небывалая скорость, плотность, агрессивное настроение и тотальный дестрой, всё это также было сдобрено хорошей порцией стёба и угара.

Так же в развитии стиля сказался тот факт, что цены на компьютеры были в то время достаточно малы, и любой желающий умеющий обращаться с программой-трекером мог оказать помощь в развитии стиля, и таких оказалось не мало.

Считается, что первые серьезные релизы в этом стиле вышли в Берлине (Германия). Немаловажную роль в развитии Breakcore-сцены сыграли и такие известные лейблы как Riot Beats и Digital Hardcore Recordings. В частности необходимо выделить таких музыкантов как Aphex Twin и Venetian Snares, которые вывели Breakcore на новую ступень в эволюции, задав тем самым темп и зародив новое звучание.

В виду того, что Breakcore изначально питал силы от совершенно разных направлений музыки, в него также пришли практически отовсюду: Breakbeat, IDM, (Ragga-)Jungle, Drum & Bass, Drill & Bass, Cyber Grindcore, Hardcore Techno музыканты, а также многие другие были не прочь попробовать себя на ниве ультраскоростных ломаных ритмов и небывалого до сего момента скопления безумной энергетики. Скучно не будет всем!

Абсолютное большинство Breakcore-музыкантов работают в рамках своих “тусовок”, и потому лейблы создаются, как правило, друзьями-диджеями или же самими музыкантами. В результате этого на лейблах существует особая концентрация, где обитают и рождаются новые доселе невиданные “стилесмешения” из самых различных, казалось бы, несмешиваемых стилей.

Дальше будут представлены основные, наиболее выделяемые подвиды Breakcore, а также “сожительство” с другими стилями.

Traditional Breakcore
Сегодня классическое звучание ассоциируется прежде всего с Venetian Snares – это жесткий и мегаскоростной Hard IDM, так же не лишённый мелодичности, и в тоже время несущий мегатонный заряд бодрой энергетики. Конечно же, Venetian Snares не был первым, но с ним мир узнал, что такое Breakcore, дав тем самым юным музыкантам новый стимул и направление.
Что слушать: Acrnym, Venetian Snares.

Mashcore
Довольно популярное и почти ставшее самостоятельным течение Breakcore. По большей части данный подвид распространён в Европе. Здесь минимум дурацкого пафоса, максимум рейвового драйва и угара. В качестве сэмплов здесь используются нарезки из популярных песен, откровенной попсы, да и практически всего, что попалось под руку автору. Всё это мешается с необыкновенной скоростью и вываливается на юные головы.
В качестве устоявшего названия используется термин Mashcore. Иногда допускают ошибку в слове, и можно встретить такое название как Mushcore.
Что слушать: Sickboy, Maladroit, Toecutter, Droon, Main$treaM.

Raggacore
Можно смело сказать, что этот подвид стал своеобразным осколком от Breakcore и теперь уже движется по самостоятельному пути. Название этому симбиозу состоящему из Ragga-Jungle и Breakcore – Raggacore. Есть несколько версий, что же такое Raggacore на самом деле. Первая, это почти тоже самое, что и Mashcore, только в качестве сэмплов используется исключительно сэмплы из Jungle-смежных стилей. По другой версии, это следующая эволюция в развитии Ragga-Jungle: убыстрённый, более ломанный и замысловатый, но, по сути и духу это тот же самый Ragga-Jungle. Обе эти версии имеют право на существование, придерживаться какой-то одной версии, по моему мнению, не стоит, а вот совместить их воедино, было бы полезно.
Что слушать: Bong-Ra, Cardopusher, Enduser, FFF.

Drum & Bass / Breakcore
Так же наиболее популярное, в виду распространённости Drum & Bass, смешение, по одной из версий, собственную руку которого приложил сам Aphex Twin заиграв несколько убыстрённый и лишённый собственной головы Drill & Bass. Так же можно выделить очень талантливого Enduser, который умело совмещает различного вида Drum & Bass c мелодичными и ёмкими Breaks, выдавая великолепное сочетание этих стилей.
Что слушать: Enduser, Amboss, DJ Floorclearer.

Hardcore Techno / Breakcore
Казалось бы по истине классическое звучание Breakcore следует искать именно здесь, но на самом деле всё немного по другому. Здесь Breakcore-ритмика выступает на переднем плане, тогда как различный электронный Hardcore звучит на подложке. Сплав с Breakcore может быть весьма многоликим, это, как и типичное Hardcore Techno так и Gabber, и Speedcore, а так же Frenchcore (французский электронный хардкор).
Что слушать: Doormouse, RotatoR.

Shitcore
Это можно было бы отнести к Hardcore Techno, но данное слияние имеет место выделятся из обшей смеси с электронным Hardcore. Это весьма “тёмное” крыло, с очень грязным и тяжёлым звучанием, здесь весьма популярно всё это приукрасить нагромождением из пульсирующих шумов и снарядить гнетущей индустриальной атмосферой. Так же не редко здесь выступает на передний план различная Terror-составляющая и полнейший дестрой.
Что слушать: Electric Kettle, Passenger of Shit, Rotators Kids, Slam, Society Suckers.

Dubcore
Стремительно набирающий обороты, довольно новый стиль Dubstep проник в головы и к Breakcore-музыкантам. Сам по себе Dubstep в первую очередь характеризуется глубоким суб-басом и мрачной дождливой атмосферой, теперь к этому необходимо прибавить Breakcore-ритмику, и в итоге получим настоящий ломанный чилл-аутный “изюм”.
Что слушать: Aaron Spectre, Ebola.

Abstract Breakcore (Ambient / Breakcore)
Один из наиболее мелодичных подвидов Breakcore-музыки. Он не такой быстрый и жёсткий, да и присущая ему ритмика используется исключительно для “резкого” подчёркивания мелодий. Без старых друзей в лице Aphex Twin и Venetian Snares, конечно же, не обошлось. За основу был взят Illbient, что является смесью из Ambient и IDM-мелодики, но здесь вместо IDM было взято на вооружение Breakcore-составляющая. Что из этого получилось можно услышать самим.
В качестве альтернативного названия зачастую используют термин – Abstract Breakcore. Так же не удивлюсь, если это будут называть Breakbient, что является наиболее точным определением.
Что слушать: Aphex Twin, Shinra, Tatamax, Maintain Silence, Mirra, Venetian Snares, Vorpal.

Intelligent Breakcore
Добиться “интеллигентного” звучания в Breakcore не так уж и просто. В действительности это очень тонкая грань между IDM и зачастую не разделимая. С весьма большой вероятностью можно говорить о том, что под Intelligent Breakcore подразумевается мелодичный Hard IDM, но при этом всё же выделяющийся своей core-востью в звучании.
Что слушать: BLAERG, CDataKill, Enduser, Venetian Snares.

Dark Breakcore
Считается, что его начало бы положено, когда сформировался творческий тандем в лице Sickboy и Bong-Ra, получивший название Servants of The Apocalyptic Goat Rave. Мрачное звучание, зачастую с Horror-атмосферой и использованием сэмплов из фильмов ужасов и различных пугающих эффектов. В качестве подложки не редко использование Dark Ambient, типичная же Breakcore-ритмика бывает иногда размыта.
Что слушать: Distimia, Hecate, rAXYOr, Servants of The Apocalyptic Goat Rave.

Brutal Breakcore
Один из самых обезбашенных и “зверских” подвидов Breakcore-музыки. Зачастую здесь используются сэмплы заимствованные у Grindcore и Death Metal-банд, но так же это может быть и “классическое” Breakcore-звучание с очень плотным и брутальным саундом. Всё это пропускается через мясорубку с такой скоростью, что даже не успеешь разбить голову о стену от получаемого экстаза. Одним из самых почитаемых музыкантов в данном направлении является человек, под псевдонимом Drumcorps, который не скрывает свою явную страсть к Grindcore.
Что слушать: Drumcorps, Curse of The Golden Vampire, Heartworm.

Industrial Breakcore
Довольно спорное разделение, характеризуется по большей части в более жёстком звучании и наличии индустриальной атмосферы. По сути же является довольно элегантным смешением Dark Breakcore с Noizecore Techno, в виду чего присутствует значительная часть Noise-звучания, а также наличие индустриального амбиента на подложке.
Что слушать: Kirdec, Subskan.

With his roots in catchy aswell as extreme music, a Goto80 performance is like an 8-bit uppercut of data death, with toys on top. Who said that pop, grindcore, acid and polka couldn’t be mixed together using bleeps and vocals? With 100 released songs and 50 gigs only in 2007 he has almost become some kind of retarded ambassadeur of lo-tech data error – or “one of the most prolific chipmusic people”, according to the magazine Computer Music. Breakcore is the bastardchild of many musical genres like Jungle, IDM, Hardcore, Punk, Ragga, Breakbeats, Industrial and Noise. The most important rule is..? There are no rules! Early breakcore came from 80’s industrial, and got big with Digital Hardcore from the ‘90’s. Always evolving and adding new influences to the canon of breakcore, the artists invited here keep pushing the boundaries. Always forward developing and from the beginning till forever it is having some kind of anarchistic attitude.
Breakcore can be Rave and breakcore can be one big moshpit.

For ZXZW 2008 there will be a special addition in the form of the world’s first ever surround sound breakcore set by Otto von Schirach, Doormouse & Rioteer, using the M.A.S.E. interface with eight independent audio inputs and a library of sound movements. The artists have sample options for assigning a trajectory to an incoming audio signal and to start, stop or localise this. The artists can input the dimensions and shape of a room and the number of speakers which are to be controlled. Otto von Schirach, Doormouse and Rioteer are going to experience for a week long with this new system, and they will present a special breakcore set in this surround form on september 19th.
Furthermore we aim to show the diversity of the genre, as well as provide a meetingpoint for like minded, by putting together artists from all over Europe in The Shape of Breakcore 2 Cum!

European countries compete against each other for the title of “The Best European Noise Act Of 2008.” Every act gets 13 minutes to show their skills to the audience. A professional jury constisting of Dr Bibber and Frans de Waard will give a professional reply to what the act showed them. The winner will get a release on ZXZW Records and of course the honor of being “The Best European Noise Act Of 2008.”

Kansas City’s Rave revitalist Murderbot continues his European Tour, touching down for his debut Notingham performance. Renowned for his dancefloor, heavy drum patterned Ragga Jungle and forward thinking Dubstep. Murderbot also produces neo-rave sleazepop, ghettotech and Speedgarage for his record label Sleazetone.

Ebola
Joining us once again is Wrong Music’s heavy bassline fanatic Ebola. Best known for intense, immaculately produced Breakcore and brutal, rhymic Dubstep. A Lobotomy veteran that never fails to please.

Dj Floorclearer
Well known for his viciously mashed up Amens and a moody, unique style of Breakcore, Floorclearer has recently taken a break from the norm and is currently formulating a different style focusing on Jungle and slower paced original beats. Something to look forward to!
