Tapage began as an axe-grinder for a short-lived metal/hip-hop band in the Netherlands. Breakcore is the bastardchild of many musical genres like Jungle, IDM, Hardcore, Punk, Ragga, Breakbeats, Industrial and Noise. The most important rule is..? There are no rules! Early breakcore came from 80’s industrial, and got big with Digital Hardcore from the ‘90’s. Always evolving and adding new influences to the canon of breakcore, the artists invited here keep pushing the boundaries. Always forward developing and from the beginning till forever it is having some kind of anarchistic attitude.
Breakcore can be Rave and breakcore can be one big moshpit.

For ZXZW 2008 there will be a special addition in the form of the world’s first ever surround sound breakcore set by Otto von Schirach, Doormouse & Rioteer, using the M.A.S.E. interface with eight independent audio inputs and a library of sound movements. The artists have sample options for assigning a trajectory to an incoming audio signal and to start, stop or localise this. The artists can input the dimensions and shape of a room and the number of speakers which are to be controlled. Otto von Schirach, Doormouse and Rioteer are going to experience for a week long with this new system, and they will present a special breakcore set in this surround form on september 19th.
Furthermore we aim to show the diversity of the genre, as well as provide a meetingpoint for like minded, by putting together artists from all over Europe in The Shape of Breakcore 2 Cum!

On saturday there’s a noise contest named Eurovision Noise Festival!

European countries compete against each other for the title of “The Best European Noise Act Of 2008.” Every act gets 13 minutes to show their skills to the audience. A professional jury constisting of Dr Bibber and Frans de Waard will give a professional reply to what the act showed them. The winner will get a release on ZXZW Records and of course the honor of being “The Best European Noise Act Of 2008.”

[31 aug] Goodlife Festival @ Openlucht Theater Goffert, Nijmegen

Eerste editie van GoodLife Festival in Nijmeegse Goffert theater.

De zomer is bijna voorbij. Jammer maar helaas. Zo gaat dat. Langzaam maken we ons weer op voor regen, grauwheid en een hele tijd binnen feesten. Het leven van de seizoensraver gaat niet alleen over rozen, maar niet getreurd want op de valreep van de zomer zorgt Good Life er nog even voor dat de zomer flink afgeklapt kan worden. In de zon welteverstaan.

Good Life is nieuw en vindt aanstaande zondag plaats in het prachtige, bosrijke Goffert theater in Nijmegen. Op twee stages kan je hier tien uur lang terecht. Dansen, lachen, ouwehoeren, chillen, borrelen, flaneren of gewoon zijn. Niks moet alles mag. Dat is het motto. Een brede selectie aan muziekfreaks dragen zorg voor een dansgarantie van 100 %. Techno, house, breakcore, electronica, acid, dubstep en ander fijns. Ondergrondse Hollandse kwaliteits klanken. En met Patrice Baumel, Ille Bitch, Darko Esser, Apzolut, Pitto, Bart Hard en een twintig tal anderen staat er voor een schamele 8 euro best een aardige zondagsrave op stok. De weersvooruitzichten zijn fantastisch. 27 graden en heel veel zon. Het ziet er dus allemaal goed uit. Dan is dat in ieder geval geregeld.

Verder hebben we Mediaontwerpers geregeld. Deze hypercreatieve Rotterdamse feestneus komt met een uiterst vermakelijke installatie. Al rijdend van de bovenste plank zal hij zeer zeker gezien worden. Verder heeft Good Life een ijscokraam geregeld die de hele dag zorgt voor wat verkoeling. Tegen de tijd dat het donker wordt zal de Nijmeegse pixelprofessor, Vingerverf, uit zijn duistere krocht kruipen om voor ons een spetterende veejay set te regelen. Whilling Wheels regelt luchtige hapjes en regelt ook een relaxte plek waar je aan lange tafels kan zitten om te chillen of om bijvoorbeeld iets te eten. Tevens regelen deze rondtrekkende voedselzigeuners een exclusieve cocktailbar. Waar de mensen die houden van alcoholisch avontuur naar harte lust kunnen experimenteren.
